Consultations

Dale Wolery brings broad experience to his consulting practice. He consults with churches, denominations, mission agencies, and Para church ministries. He has consulted long enough to be aware of his limits and will gladly decline to consult with you and will refer you elsewhere if he does not believe he will efficiently bring quality expertise to your situation. His heart beats for hurting ministry professionals and his consulting specialty is consulting with ministries which find themselves needing guidance through the rough waters of pastoral failure and corporate rebuilding.

Dale has served in ministry for almost 40 years and has worked in a variety of settings. His first ministry he was Pastor of a church small church plant which could not even support him. His most notable ministry was at the historic Church of the Open Door where he served as Associate Pastor in a high profile Los Angeles church. There he spearheaded the church’s momentous move from downtown Los Angeles to the suburbs. He also served as Senior Minister for a church in Orange County Suburbia, Yorba Linda, California where he led a staff, preached to a growing vibrant seeker sensitive congregation and served them for six fruitful years.

As Associate Pastor at the Church of the Open Door he was staff person in charge of more than 30 employees, was the point person for 70 plus missionary families, managed estate files, managed operating budgets in excess of 1.5 million dollars, and spearheaded the sale of the downtown property of the Church of the Open Door to receive the highest price ever paid for property in downtown Los Angeles at the time. He also led the team in its acquisition of a 40 acre campus 30 miles away, guided the architects, engineers and contractors through tough zoning and development problems to complete the first phase of campus development. While doing this he used expository Bible teaching to build the largest adult class ever at the church. He regularly filled the pulpit as well serving in both downtown and the new site each Sunday for more than six months.

With all of the above experience it may be apparent to you why he needed personal and marital recovery. For Dale the driven treadmill of ministry success was familiar and an enigma. At the zenith of his career his life was in shambles. Through a Christian counselor and then into the whole recovery movement where he attended conferences, intensives and groups Dale has most enjoyed this later period of his life where great grace is doing its work and honesty is more the norm. Dale prizes nothing more than his growing relationship with his wife and daughters. Having known the conflict of failed relationships and the loneliness and isolation of successful ministry Dale’s personal and professional ministry is now marked by straightforward honesty and warm grace.

Dale consults with only a select group of ministries because of his commitment to pastors and their crises. He consults for an hourly fee plus expenses and will gladly share his rates with serious inquirers. To contact him regarding consultation you may go to the Contact page and contact Dale today. Dale does not consult with organizations which will not sign the CRN Consulting Agreement
